Tracking local data over time
will help us decide where to
focus our energy and
resources for health
improvement.
Looking at health information
and the situations that
impact health geographically
(or place-based) is a critical
new component of health
planning.
As part of the 2010
Buncombe County Health
Assessment, place-based
data and resources will be
used to help our community
leaders focus our resources.
In the recent Robert Wood
Johnson County Health
Rankings report, social and
economic factors
influencing health were
found to be the single most
important category
impacting health outcomes
(40%), far higher than clinical
care (20%), health behaviors
(30%), or the physical
environment (10%).
Searching for the greatest
opportunity to improve health
brings a focus on data such
as income, housing,
education and more.
