Survey Methodology
The community health survey uses a double cluster stratified random sample methodology. Buncombe
County IT department and Department of Health Staff used this random process to identify 36 census
tracts. Six randomly identified households were then selected to be interviewed in each tract.

Community Health Survey
The 2009/2010 community health survey was implemented by the Buncombe County Department of
Health. It gathered extensive health information from over two hundred Buncombe County residents.
Volunteers and Department of Health staff went door to door to ask residents about topics such as chronic
diseases, community safety, behavioral health, and ability to be physically active outside.
